ELIXIR-IIB bioinformatics training

Silvia Gioiosa

Silvia Gioiosa is a bioinformatician and research fellow at the Institute of Biomembrane and Bioenergetics (IBIOM) of the National Research Council (CNR, IT) in collaboration with CINECA (Rome). She graduated in Genomics and Biotechnology in 2010 at University "La Sapienza" - Rome - and turned to bioinformatics during her PhD in Human Biology and Genetics. Her main research interests cover different aspects of Next Generation Sequencing technology and computational biology, mainly applied to the development of pipelines for genome-wide analysis covering genomic variants, gene expression data, epigenetics and non-coding RNA. Currently, her work at CINECA (Rome), a key partner in the Elixir Italian node, focuses on the efficient implementation and distribution of High Performance Computing (HPC) bioinformatics resources for Elixir Scientific Community. She is also involved in the delivery of training courses focused on HPC applied to Bionformatics.
